Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Ruhul Amin has said 81 per cent migrant workers out of 18,000 who failed to go to Malaysia got back their money.

He shared this information in a press conference at his office at the ministry on Wednesday, January 22.

The recruiting agencies returned 81 per cent workers’ money and they submitted lists containing the workers’ signature to the ministry, he said.

Noting that the agencies have been asked to refund the money within Thursday, January 23, the secretary warned action will be taken against those who do not return the money.

The migrant workers who failed to reach Malaysia began a demonstration at Karwan Bazar around 9:00am today with a four-point demand and at about 11:00am, they were forced to move away.

Later, they rallied in front of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.
