DMTCL staff threaten Metrorail shutdown from Friday

The permanent officials and employees of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, DMTCL, have threatened to refrain from operating Metrorail services from Friday, February 21, if a comprehensive service rule is not made within the next three days.

They made the threat in a press release on Monday, February 18.

On September 12 last year, the adviser to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges asked the authorities concerned to make a comprehensive job rule for DMTCL staff amid demand but the direction has not been implemented till today despite five months passed, according to the press release.

Due to lack of a comprehensive service rule, more than 200 foreign and domestic trained officers and employees of DMTCL left their jobs. As a result, the Metrorail operation and maintenance may be under threat, the release said.
