3-day DC Conference ends

The three-day Deputy Commissioner (DC) Conference, which began on Sunday morning, concluded on Tuesday evening.
As in the previous year, the sessions were held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital.
Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the 'DC Conference-2025' at the Shapla Hall of his office at 10:30 am on Sunday. During the opening ceremony, the Chief Adviser provided various instructions to the district commissioners. The DC conference is held annually to facilitate face-to-face communication between the government’s policymakers and the district commissioners, offering them necessary directives and guidance.
On the first day, after 6:00 pm, the Chief Adviser met with the Bangladesh Administrative Service Association at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. Following that, the Chief Adviser hosted a dinner with the DCs and divisional commissioners. The first day also featured three sessions with eight ministries and departments.
On the second day, deputy commissioners had a courtesy meeting with the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court building in the evening. On the same day, eight sessions were held with 21 ministries and departments.
On the third and final day, a total of 14 sessions were held with 22 ministries and divisions. In total, 34 sessions took place during the conference, with 30 of those being working sessions with various ministries and divisions.
In the working sessions, representatives from ministries and divisions, including advisers, special assistants to the Chief Adviser, senior secretaries, and secretaries, were present. The sessions were chaired by the Cabinet Secretary. After each session, the relevant authorities briefed the media on their positions and guidance regarding the DCs' proposals.
This year, a total of 354 proposals were received from deputy commissioners and divisional commissioners. These proposals were discussed during the working sessions. In addition to these, district commissioners also presented several immediate proposals, according to officials from the Cabinet Division.
This year, there was no courtesy meeting with the President due to a scheduling conflict, as informed by the Cabinet Division.
At the conference's conclusion, Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid informed the media that a message had been conveyed to the deputy commissioners, stressing the upcoming challenges and the need for preparation.
He stated that the conference's objectives had been fulfilled, and he hoped the district commissioners would leave feeling more motivated.
Sheikh Abdur Rashid also mentioned, “We had hoped to conclude the conference within three days, and we succeeded. However, it was very tight, and we have learned a lesson from this. The honorable advisers have suggested extending the conference to four days in the future.”
