Colleagues flee after death of Chinese national in Uttara
Police have recovered the body of a Chinese national from the Uttara area of the capital.
The deceased has been identified as Wang Bu, 37, who resided with his colleagues in a house on Road 16, Sector 14, in Uttara.
Authorities suspect that after murdering Wang Bu, his colleagues fled the country via Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Police from Uttara West Police Station visited the house at 2:30 pm on Thursday (February 20) after receiving a tip-off. The CID Crime Scene unit has been notified to assist with the post-mortem examination of the body.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station, Md Hafizur Rahman, confirmed the incident, saying that Wang Bu and his colleagues had rented the house a month ago. The deceased had been a partner in the boulder business in Bangladesh for nine years.
“We are currently at the scene,” the OC said. “The CID Crime Scene team has been informed, and the body will be sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy following the post-mortem.”
Assistant Police Commissioner (AC) of Uttara Zone, Saddam Hossain, told Jago News that CCTV footage from the building showed two or three other Chinese nationals entering the house with Wang Bu. They left shortly afterward. Authorities believe these individuals killed Wang Bu before fleeing.
The DMP official added that further legal action in the case is underway.
