A gold trader was shot and robbed of 200 bhori of gold and Tk 1 lakh in the Banasree area of Dhaka on Sunday night. The victim, Anwar Hossain, 55, sustained injuries in the attack and was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Local people said that armed robbers on three motorcycles blocked Hossain’s path around 10:30 pm on Road No. 7 in Block D of Banasree. They attempted to steal the gold, but when Hossain refused to comply, one of the attackers shot him. The robbers then took the gold and cash before fleeing the scene.

Mohammad Ataur Rahman Akand, Officer-in-Charge of Rampura Police Station, stated that Hossain, who owns a jewelry shop in Banasree, was returning home after closing his business when the incident occurred. He added that one of the attackers, wearing a red helmet, shot Hossain three times—hitting him in both legs and his back.

Hossain was carrying 200 bhori of gold and Tk 1 lakh at the time of the attack. After the shooting, the robbers took the valuables and quickly fled on their motorcycles.

The video captures a struggle between Hossain and the attackers, during which the individual wearing the red helmet shoots the victim. Following the shooting, the group quickly departs on their motorcycles.
