A 33-year-old motorcyclist, Ali Hossain Talukder, was killed in a horrific collision with a bus of Ramzan Paribahan in Dhaka’s Rampura on Thursday, February 27.

The reckless crash, which occurred around 4:30pm, sparked outrage, leading angry passers by to vandalise and set the bus ablaze.

Rampura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ataur Rahman Akand confirmed to Jago News that Ali Hossain died after the bus struck him.

“The crowd turned furious and trashed the bus,” he said. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer at the Fire Service Control Room, reported that two firefighting units rushed to the scene after receiving news of the blaze. “By the time we arrived, the fire was already under control,” she noted, suggesting locals or bystanders may have doused it.
