Magura rape victim loses battle for life

An 8-year-old girl, who was raped and severely tortured in Magura, has died after an eight-day struggle for life. She breathed her last while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. The Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) confirmed the death in a press release issued on Thursday. 

According to the ISPR, with a heavy heart, it has been announced that the child, who had been abused in Magura, passed away at 1:00 pm today, March 13, at the CMH in Dhaka.

Despite the advanced medical facilities at CMH and the utmost efforts of expert doctors, the child could not be saved. This morning, Thursday, the child suffered three cardiac arrests. While the child was stabilized twice, the third time, the heartbeat could not be restored.

The child had been admitted to CMH in Dhaka in a critical condition on March 8.

The Bangladesh Army has expressed its deep condolences to the grieving family and assured them of its support in any necessary matters. The Bangladesh Army prays for the forgiveness of the child’s departed soul.

The child was raped while visiting her sister's home in Magura on Thursday (March 6). The following day, she was admitted to Magura 250-Bed Hospital. Due to her deteriorating condition, she was transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment that same afternoon. From there, she was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital that night. Subsequently, she was placed on life support Friday night. The critically ill child was transferred from the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital to the CMH on Saturday evening. The next day, Sunday, the child was admitted to the Pediatric ICU at CMH.
