Magura child’s body transported home by helicopter
The body of an eight-year-old rape victim is being transported from the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka to her village in Magura by helicopter.
On Thursday, March 13, the remains were moved by ambulance from CMH to Tejgaon Old Airport in the afternoon, then airlifted to Magura under Bangladesh Army supervision.
The child passed away at CMH around 1:00pm on Thursday. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), despite advanced medical care and the efforts of expert doctors, her life could not be saved.
She suffered three cardiac arrests that morning; though stabilised twice, her heart did not recover after the third. She had been admitted to CMH in critical condition on March 8.
The Bangladesh Army expressed deep condolences to the grieving family, pledging support and praying for the child’s soul.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus also mourned her death, calling it a tragic loss due to the torture she endured in Magura. Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir stated that Yunus has ordered swift justice for those responsible.
At a Secretariat press briefing, Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul announced that the trial for the rape and murder case will begin within seven days.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam assured that the investigation would be completed as quickly as possible.
