Security measures in Dhaka and around the National Eidgah have been heightened for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, said DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali on Sunday.

"Five-tier security arrangements have been implemented at the National Eidgah ground and surrounding areas," the DMP commissioner told journalists after inspecting the security measures.

"However, there is no security risk concerning this year's Eid," he added.

The main Eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah at 8:30 am, where approximately 35,000 devotees are expected to offer prayers at once.

To ensure the safety of the city's residents, strict security measures have been put in place, according to the DMP commissioner.

A comprehensive security plan has been adopted by the DMP for all Eid congregations, including those at the National Eidgah, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, and other locations across Dhaka.

This year, a total of 1,739 Eid congregations will be held in Dhaka, including 111 at various Eidgahs and 1,577 at mosques.

The National Eidgah ground will be monitored by CCTV cameras, and the DMP Bomb Squad and SWAT units will remain on high alert.

A specific parking area will be designated for devotees arriving at the National Eidgah ground.

Traffic diversions will be in place at Zero Point, Government Employees Hospital, Doel Chattar, the alley next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, UBL crossing, Control Room Gap, and Matsyabhaban crossing.

The DMP has urged everyone to follow traffic instructions.

DMP Additional Police Commissioner and Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) Rezaul Karim Mallick, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Masud Karim, and other senior officials were present during the inspection.
