When and where to attend Eid congregations in Dhaka
The National Moon Sighting Committee on Sunday evening confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal moon paving the way to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday.
On Eid day, worshippers across Dhaka will gather at Eidgahs and mosques to say two units of prayers.
Main Eid congregation at 8:30am
The prime Eid congregation will be held at the National Eidgah on the Supreme Court premises at 8:30am. In case of unfavourable weather, the congregation will be moved to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9:00am.
The Chief Adviser, Dr Muhammad Yunus, members of the Advisory Council, Supreme Court judges, politicians, senior government officials, foreign diplomats, and people from all walks of life are expected to attend.
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has confirmed that around 35,000 worshippers, including men and women, will pray at the National Eidgah.
The Baitul Mukarram National Mosque’s Khatib, Maulana Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek, will lead the prayers, with Muazzin Qari Muhammad Habibur Rahman assisting. DSCC has said that all preparations for the congregation are complete.
Five Eid congregations at Baitul Mukarram
As in previous years five separate Eid congregations will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque:
-7:00am – Led by Imam Mufti Maulana Muhibullahil Baki, with Hafez Md Ataur Rahman as mukabbir.
-8:00am – Led by senior Imam Maulana Mizanur Rahman, with chief khadim Md Nasir Ullah as mukabbir.
-9:00am – Led by Islamic Foundation Muhaddis Dr Maulana Mufti Waliur Rahman Khan, with khadim Md Abdul Hadi as mukabbir.
-10:00am– Led by Islamic Foundation’s Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, with khadim Md Alauddin as mukabbir.
-10:45am – Led by Mufti Md. Abdullah from the Islamic Foundation, with Khadem Md Ruhul Amin as mukabbir.
Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Md Zakir Hossain will serve as an alternate imam if needed.
