BAF inaugurates GM 403M air defence radar

The Bangladesh Air Force has inaugurated the newly installed GM 403M Air Defence Radar at its 71 Squadron in Dhaka’s Mirpur on Wednesday (16 April 2025). 

Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, attended the event as the chief guest and officially inaugurated the state-of-the-art equipment, said ISPR.  

As part of the ongoing modernisation and capacity-building efforts of the Bangladesh Air Force, advanced infrastructure and cutting-edge equipment are being continuously integrated into its operational framework. 

In line with this vision, the newly installed air defence radar has now been formally incorporated into the operational assets of the Air Force.

 This advanced radar system is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing the air defence capabilities of the Bangladesh Air Force. Its integration marks a major leap in technological advancement, enabling the force to monitor and respond to aerial threats with greater precision and efficiency.  

The ceremony was attended by senior officers from the Armed Forces Division, as well as representatives from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, underscoring the importance of this milestone in the nation’s defence preparedness.  

The inauguration of the GM 403M Air Defense Radar not only reflects Bangladesh Air Force’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s airspace but also highlights its dedication to adopting modern technology to ensure regional security and stability.
