4 killed as truck, pickup van collide in Habiganj

Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj early Thursday.

The accident took place around 2:00am at Bakharnagar on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway.

Among the deceased are two men and two women, whose identities have not yet been confirmed.

Five others sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital.

Madhabpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun said the pickup van was carrying 16 to 17 passengers along with household items. Both vehicles have been seized and are currently in the custody of the Highway Police.

The bodies have been recovered and kept at the hospital, the OC added.
