Jahangir Kabir embarrassed over hundreds of fake Facebook pages
Dr Jahangir Kabir, an health advocate, is grappling with an embarrassing scandal involving hundreds of fake Facebook pages created in his name, some mimicking his verified profile’s blue-badge image.
These pages, which replicate his voice, are promoting illegal and legal drugs, including sexually stimulating medications, diabetes treatments, weight loss pills, and remedies for allergies, piles, and asthma.
The issue escalated when a lawyer sent a legal notice to Dr Kabir and Dr Tasnim Zara, accusing them of spreading obscenity, only to withdraw it upon realizing the pages were fraudulent.
Authorities have since deactivated Dr Kabir’s verified Facebook page, limiting his ability to address the issue directly.
At a press conference on Wednesday, April 30, at his office, Jahangir Kabir condemned the scam. “Unscrupulous groups are exploiting my name to sell illegal medicines. With my verified page down, I’ve warned people via my Facebook ID and YouTube channel and filed a general diary with the police,” he said.
“I don’t sell medicines. My mission is drug-free health through lifestyle changes – healthy food, fasting, mental peace, and sleep. This approach has freed millions, especially diabetes patients, from disease.”
Dr Kabir emphasised that his organisation promotes chemical-free “super foods” like black rice, quinoa, coconut oil, organic turmeric, and chia seeds, but does not sell medicines.
“Food is medicine,” he said, noting that their services, including free treatment, focus on preventing 60-70 diseases. Only tests and specific foods require payment.
He warned that the fraudsters are capitalising on public trust in his drug-free health philosophy. “If we don’t act, this deception will grow. My clear statement: Dr Jahangir Kabir does not sell any medicines,” he asserted, urging the public to stay vigilant.
