Santu Larma travels to India
Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma, widely known as Santu Larma, Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council and President of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti, crossed into India on Saturday, May 3, via the Akhaura International Immigration Check Post.
Larma, who arrived at Akhaura from the Rangamati by road, entered Agartala, Tripura, around 2:00pm after completing immigration formalities.
Speaking to reporters, he noted this was his first time using this route, adding that his visit is primarily for a health check-up and to perform ‘pitritarpan’ and other religious rituals for his parents.
When questioned about security and other issues in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Larma was brief: “Visit Rangamati, and you’ll understand.” He declined to elaborate further.
His personal assistant, Shyamal Larma, confirmed that Santu Larma will return via the same route but could not specify a return date.
