Govt employees observe one-hour work abstention

Government employees across the country observed a one-hour work abstention on Thursday (May 29), demanding the repeal of the Public Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.

As per the pre-announced programme, they began the work stoppage on Thursday (May 29) at 10:00 am, continuing until 11:00 am.

At the Secretariat, employees gathered at the library room of the Ministry of Public Administration from 10:00 am. Employees in various other ministries also assembled in designated areas to observe the protest.

Md Badiul Kabir, co-chairman of the Bangladesh Secretariat Officers and Employees Unity Forum, told Jago News, “As announced, employees observed the work stoppage from 10:00 am. We gathered in the library of the Ministry of Public Administration and also visited various other ministries.”

Earlier on Wednesday, the forum had announced that a one-hour work stoppage would be observed daily until the ordinance is repealed.
