DMP bans processions near CJ’s residence, Judges Complex

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on rallies, processions, demonstrations, and gatherings in front of the Chief Justice’s residence, the Judges Complex, the main gate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, the Jam-e-Mosque gate, entrances to the International Crimes Tribunals 1 and 2, and the Bangladesh Institute of Judicial Administration (BIJA).

The restriction, effective from Saturday (June 14), will remain in place until further notice, according to a public notification issued by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali.

“In the interest of maintaining public order, and under the authority granted by Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III of 1976), all types of assemblies, gatherings, processions, rallies, and demonstrations are hereby prohibited—effective from Saturday (June 14) until further instructions—at the following locations: the Chief Justice’s official residence, the Judges Complex, the main gate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court, Mazar gate, Jam-e-Mosque gate, entrances to the International Crimes Tribunals 1 and 2, and in front of the Judicial Administration Training Institute building,” the notice read.

The DMP also urged all concerned not to obstruct traffic by occupying roads under the pretext of demands or protest programmes.
