A mechanical fault in the Rampura Sub Station has plunged several areas of Dhaka into darkness, causing significant inconvenience to residents.

Authorities expect the issue to be resolved by late night.

On Sunday, June 22, at around 9:30pm, the power supply was disrupted due to a fault in the 230/132 KV grid connecting the National Grid to Rampura Sub Station.

Md Shamim Hasan, Director of the Public Relations Directorate of Bangladesh Power Development Board, confirmed the matter to Jago News.

"Work is underway to address the mechanical fault, and we hope to restore power between 12:00am and 12:30am," Hasan stated.

The outage has affected multiple areas, including Banani and Moghbazar, where power has been unavailable for several hours.

Dhaka University, Azimpur and New Market also experienced sudden power cuts around 10:30 pm.

The disruption has caused significant hardship for residents, with authorities working urgently to resolve the issue and restore normalcy.
