Siraj Uddin Mia appointed Cabinet Secy

The government has assigned M Siraj Uddin Mia, Secretary to the Chief Adviser’s Office, as the new Cabinet Secretary on an additional charge.

A notification, issued from the Ministry of Public Administration, confirmed the matter on Saturday, February 14.

He will serve in the post on a contractual basis alongside his current responsibilities.

The move follows the early termination of former Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid’s contract. Rashid had been appointed for a two-year term on October 8, 2024, originally set to end on October 7, 2026, but his contract was revoked eight months prior to completion.

The administrative changes come shortly after the 13th national parliamentary elections held on February 12, in which the BNP, led alliance secured a two, thirds majority and is set to form the next government.
