SUST permanently expels 2 students for 'raping fellow student'

The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have expelled two students for life for allegedly raping a fellow student.

The lifetime expelled students are Swagata Das Partha and Shanto Tara Adnan of the 2021-22 session of the Sociology Department.

The decision was taken in an urgent meeting of the syndicate around 11:00am on Tuesday, June 24, syndicate member Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury confirmed.

On June 19, a female student filed a written complaint to the university proctor, accusing fellow students Swagata Das Partha and Shanto Tara Adnan of raping her in a house on May 2.

On June 19, the police arrested them in a drive.
