4 burnt in gas explosion while cleaning water tank
Four people, including two children, sustained burn injuries in a gas explosion while cleaning a water tank at a house in the Tannery Mor area of Jigatola in the capital.
The victims have been identified as house owner Ziaur Rahman, 45, his daughters Faria, 8, and Raifa, 4, and a worker named Belal Hossain, 28.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening (June 28). All four were rescued and taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Shahporan, who brought the injured to the hospital, said the explosion happened during the cleaning of a water tank at house number 51/A in the Tannery Mor area.
Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, Residential Medical Officer at the institute, said Belal Hossain sustained burns on 17 percent of his body, Ziaur Rahman on 3 percent, Faria on 7 percent, and Raifa on 3 percent.
He added that all the victims are currently receiving treatment at the emergency department, and one of them is expected to be admitted for further care.
