A woman and her two children were found murdered with their throats slit at a rented house in Mymensingh's Bhaluka upazila.

Police recovered the bodies around 11:30 am on Monday (July 14) from the house in the T&T Road area of Bhaluka municipality.

The victims were identified as Moyna Khatun, 30, wife of Rafiqul Islam, and their two children—Raisa Akter, 4, and Md Nirab, 2.

Rafiqul Islam, originally from Sener Bazar in Kendua upazila of Netrokona district, works at Russell Spinning Mill in Bhaluka. He lived with his family in the rented house where the incident occurred.

According to police and local sources, Rafiqul returned home from work around 9:00 am on Monday and found the door locked from the outside. After repeatedly calling out and getting no response, he broke the lock and entered the house, where he discovered the bodies of his wife and children.

Police were informed and arrived at the scene around 11:30 am to recover the bodies.

Md Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said Rafiqul’s younger brother, Nazrul Islam—who also lived in the same house and worked as an autorickshaw driver—has been missing since the incident.

“This appears to be a premeditated murder. We are investigating the motive, and legal proceedings are underway,” said the OC.
