The Bangladesh Coast Guard and Navy have intensified patrols along the waterways of Gopalganj as part of a special joint forces operation.

Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid, Media Officer at the Coast Guard Headquarters, confirmed the development on Friday (July 18).

He said the joint operation was being carried out to maintain law and order following recent attacks on NCP leaders in Gopalganj.

“As part of the ongoing crackdown, special river patrols are being conducted to prevent miscreants from fleeing via waterways,” he stated.

A Coast Guard official said joint force members were patrolling round the clock to ensure security. Suspicious vessels are being searched, passenger identities verified, and all suspicious movements closely monitored.

Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid added that the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Navy remain on high alert to prevent any acts of sabotage or unrest, with public safety being their top priority.
