Uttara tragedy: 164 injured being treated at six hospitals
At least 164 people are receiving treatment in six hospitals after being injured as a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed on Milestone School and College at Uttara, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
A Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College in Uttara today. The ISPR reported 18 fatalities and the Fire Service and Civil Defence, however, reported 19 deaths.
The tragic incident occurred shortly after 1:06pm when the aircraft, which had just taken off, plummeted onto the roof of the canteen in the school's Haider Hall building. Fire services initially confirmed one death at the scene.
Casualties are being treated across six different hospitals. The ISPR provided a breakdown of the victims receiving care: Bangladesh-Kuwait Friendship Hospital: 8 injured; National Burn Institute: 70 injured, 2 fatalities;
Combined Military Hospital: 14 injured, 11 fatalities; Kurmitola General Hospital: 2 fatalities; Uttara Lubna General Hospital and Cardiac Center: 11 injured; 2 fatalities; Uttara Modern Hospital: 60 injured, 1 fatality; Uttara Crescent Hospital: 1 injured.
