Plane crash death toll rises to 31: ISPR

The death toll from the crash of an Air Force training aircraft onto Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka, has risen to 31. This was announced on Tuesday noon in a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Earlier in the morning, Dr Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, stated that the death toll had reached 27, with doctors confirming that 25 of the deceased were children. Additionally, 78 injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at various hospitals, with five in critical condition.

During a press conference at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, Sayedur Rahman said that, so far, the bodies of 20 victims have been handed over to their families. While treatment continues relentlessly, the condition of some patients remains critical.

He added that many of the victims are children under the age of 12, most of whom have suffered extensive burns over large parts of their bodies. “We are making every effort to save their lives,” he said.

Meanwhile, the government has announced that it will provide free medical treatment to all those injured in the crash.
