Woman injured as tree falls on vehicles during rain in dhanmondi

A woman was injured when a large tree fell onto multiple vehicles in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area amid heavy rainfall Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2:30 PM near Dhanmondi-6, according to Kyashinyu Marma, officer-in-charge of Dhanmondi Police Station. The uprooted tree struck two CNG-powered auto-rickshaws, a rickshaw, and a private car, causing significant damage to one of the auto-rickshaws.

The injured woman, approximately 35 years old, was a passenger in the heavily damaged auto-rickshaw. She became trapped when her leg was caught under the fallen tree, Kyashinyu reported.

Fire Service and Civil Defence teams promptly arrived at the scene and conducted a rescue operation, as confirmed by Rashed bin Khalid, duty officer at the Fire Service Control Room. The woman was freed and taken for medical treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the tree’s collapse to assess safety measures in the area.
