Scuffle erupts between protesters, police at Shahbagh

A confrontation broke out between the protesters and the police at the Shahbagh intersection on Thursday afternoon, July 31 during a blockade demanding the implementation of 'July Charter' and 'July Proclamation'.

The scuffle occurred around 5:30pm when the law enforcers tried to remove the barricade put up by the injured victims, and family members of martyrs of the July Mass Uprising this morning.

A police official present at the spot said they did not use baton charges on the protesters or force them to withdraw the blockade. "They (protesters) started arguing with us when we removed the barricade."

A protester named Md Mijan said a scuffle erupted when the police removed their barricade and asked them to stop the programme.
