Two suspected robbers beaten in Patuakhali, one dies

Two individuals accused of robbery were beaten by locals in Patuakhali early Sunday, leaving one dead. The incident occurred in the Kashipur Bazar area of Bauphal Upazila.

According to local sources, around 3:30 am, a gang of robbers broke into the homes of Khalil Howlader and Azhar Jamaddar in Adabaria Union. They allegedly assaulted family members, held them at gunpoint, and looted approximately Tk 10 lakh and gold ornaments.

Hearing the commotion, nearby residents captured two of the suspects and beat them, while the others reportedly fled with the stolen items.

Bauphal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Aktaruzzaman Sarkar said the two suspects were taken to the hospital in critical condition. One of them died during treatment. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.
