Tawhid Afridi arrested in murder case
Controversial content creator Tawhid Afridi has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police in Barishal. He was arrested on Sunday night during a raid in the Banglabazar area.
CID’s Special Superintendent of Police (Media), Jasim Uddin Khan, confirmed the arrest to Jago News.
He said a CID team conducted the raid in Barishal and apprehended Afridi, who is an accused in a murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station in Dhaka in connection with the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. Afridi has been named as the 11th accused in the case.
The prime accused in the case are former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former minister Obaidul Quader, and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.
Earlier, in the same case, Afridi’s father, My TV chairman Nasir Uddin Sathi—listed as the 22nd accused—was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on 17 August.
The case names a total of 25 accused individuals, along with 150 unidentified others.
