Naogaon Jamaat expels upazila amir for sexually harassing students

Maulana Monayem Hossain, Amir of Sadar Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami in Naogaon and a teacher at Enayetpur Dakhil Madrasa, has been expelled from the party following allegations of sexually harassing madrasa student.

The decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the Naogaon District unit Jamaat on the night of Sunday, September 29, based on findings from a three-member internal investigation committee.

The committee concluded that Hossain had committed acts of “moral turpitude,” leading to his immediate expulsion and the cancellation of his party nomination for the post of Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman.

Naogaon District Jamaat Amir Khandaker Muhammad Abdur Rakib confirmed the development to Jago News on Tuesday afternoon. He said the investigation committee was formed promptly after Jago News published a report on 27 September titled ‘Sexual harassment of madrasa student against Jamaat leader’, which detailed the allegations against Hossain.

“The committee submitted its findings swiftly, and it was established that Maulana Monayem Hossain engaged in serious moral misconduct,” Rakib said. “As a result, he has been expelled from the party with immediate effect, and Jamaat no longer has any association with him.”

Rakib added that the investigation also uncovered internal disputes among teachers at Enayetpur Dakhil Madrasa, but noted that such institutional matters fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant educational authorities, not the party.
