Child dies, 22 injured as bus, RAB vehicle collide

A two-year-old child died and at least 22 others were injured as a bus and a picnic vehicle of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) collided head-on in Patuakhali's Sadar on Saturday morning, October 11.

Locals said a picnic vehicle of RAB-8 and a bus of Barishal-bound 'Dhanshiri Classic Paribahan' collided head-on in Fatullar Pakkhiya area under Auliapur union around 8:00am, leaving a child dead on the spot and 22 others injured.

Witnesses said the RAB vehicle had around 30 passengers, and after the incident, the locals and the fire personnel together conducted a rescue operation and sent the injured to hospital.

"We have rescued 13 individuals from RAB's vehicle on the scene and admitted them to Patuakhali Sadar Hospital. Of them, a two-year-child have been confirmed dead, and some of the injured are in critical condition," said assistant director at Patuakhali Fire Service Belal Uddin.
