60-hour training mandatory for driving license: Fouzul

Stressing skilled and trained drivers to prevent road accidents, Road Transport and Bridges Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, on Wednesday, October 22, said it will require a 60-hour long training to avail driving license in the future.

"To get driving license in the future, individuals will require to take training from any recognised training centre. We will arrange the training and there will be allowance for the trainees," he said.

Fouzul said this while addressing a discussion held in Dhaka's Tejgaon area today on the occasion of National Road Safety Day 2025.

Mentioning that the main cause of traffic jam and road accidents is drivers having not any training, the adviser said, "That is why, we are bringing a change to the existing system which issues driving license. Now, training will be main requirement for issuing driving license."

Stating that they want to transform the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) into a service organisation from regulatory body, he said, "We will transfer most of the tasks to the Driving Institute from the BRTA."
