New secretaries appointed to 4 ministries, divisions

New secretaries have been appointed to the Ministry of Shipping, the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Planning Division. Among them, three additional secretaries were promoted to the rank of secretary before their postings. One secretary was previously attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.

Separate gazette notifications regarding these appointments were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday night (2 November).

Dr. Nurunnahar Chowdhury, Additional Secretary of the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping. Bilkis Jahan Rimi, Additional Secretary attached to the Finance Division, has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute. Md Shawkat Rashid Chowdhury, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, has been promoted and posted as Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development and Cooperatives.

Meanwhile, SM Shakil Akhter, previously attached to the Ministry of Public Administration, has been posted as Secretary of the Planning Division.

Earlier, on 3 August, the Ministry of Public Administration had issued a notification appointing SM Shakil Akhter, then Additional Secretary attached to the Statistics and Information Management Division, as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. However, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock adviser, Farida Akhter, did not allow him to join, and he was later attached to the Ministry of Public Administration.
