A man was shot dead by unidentified assailants in front of the gate of Dhaka National Medical Institute Hospital (DNMIH) under Sutrapur Police Station in Dhaka on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Tarif Sayed Mamun, 55, a businessman. According to his relatives, Mamun had a court appearance in a case.

The incident occurred around 11:00 am. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.

Mohibullah, ward master at DNMIH, said that around 11:00 am, gunshots were heard near the hospital. On checking, they found the victim lying on the road in a pool of blood in front of the main gate. He was immediately taken to DNMIH, and due to his deteriorating condition, he was quickly transferred to DMCH, where doctors confirmed his death.
