Court summons RMP chief over murder accused's media statements

A court in Rajshahi has sommuned Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian for allowing the accused in the murder of a judge's son make statements to media while in police custody.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Sub-ordinate Court's judge Md Mamunur Rashid asked him to appear before the court on November 19 to explian why action should not be taken against him in this regard.

Earlier, the accused, Limon Mia, talked to media blaming the victim, Tausifur Rahman, 17, for the incident.

According to locals, Limon entered the rented residence of Abdur Rahman, Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Rajshahi, in Dabtola area of the Rajshahi city on Thursday, November 13.

During the intrusion, Tausif was first stabbed to death. His mother Tasmina Nahar Lucy and Limon also sustained injuries in the scuffle and later were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
