Ex-President Hamid’s house attacked, vandalised in Kishoreganj
An attack and vandalism took place at the house of former President Md Abdul Hamid in Mithamain of Kishoreganj on Monday night. The incident occurred between 10:00pm and 11:30pm.
According to local sources, after the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death in a case over crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising, the Mithamain Upazila unit of the BNP brought out a celebratory procession. Party leaders and activists joined the march.
As the procession moved from Mithamain Bazar towards Kamalpur village, a group of 20–25 people suddenly attacked the former president’s house. They broke the door, entered the house, and vandalised windows, chairs, furniture, and other belongings. No family members of Abdul Hamid were present at the time, so no casualties occurred.
Mithamain Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Kabir confirmed the incident, saying the attack took place following a BNP celebratory procession. Some furniture, doors, windows, and several photographs inside the house were damaged, although no one was injured. The situation is currently under control, with police and army personnel deployed at the scene.
