EC's final count: 12,76,95,183 voters set for election
The Election Commission (EC) has published the final electoral roll ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections, confirming that 12,76,95,183 citizens are now eligible to vote.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed disclosed the updated figures during a briefing at the Election Building in Agargaon on Tuesday.
According to the new roll, Bangladesh has 6,48,14,907 male voters, 6,28,79,042 female voters, and 1,234 transgender voters.
This marks a significant rise from the previous voter list issued on March 2, which recorded 12,37,32,274 registered voters. The increase reflects months of nationwide voter registration drives, corrections, and updates.
EC officials said the rise in voter numbers includes new registrants who have reached the age of eligibility.
Anyone who turned 18 by October 31 has been incorporated into the final list. The update also accounts for corrections in voter information, removal of duplicate entries, and deletion of the names of deceased individuals – part of the commission’s annual revision process.
The EC emphasised that finalising the voter list is a critical milestone in the election preparation roadmap.
With the updated roll in place, the commission will now move forward with logistical planning, constituency-level preparations, and the distribution of voter information slips.
Officials further stated that the updated list will help ensure transparency and credibility in the upcoming polls, enabling political parties, candidates, and election observers to access accurate voter demographics for each constituency.
