Earthquake shakes Dhaka, other parts of country

An earthquake shook the capital, Dhaka, along with several other parts of the country on Friday morning. The tremor was felt at 10:38 am.
Rubaiyat Kabir, acting officer at the Earthquake Monitoring Centre of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, told Jago News that the earthquake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was in Madhabdi, Narsingdi, about 13 kilometers from Dhaka, and the earthquake was of moderate intensity.
However, the USGS website reports the earthquake as a 5.5 magnitude tremor, located 14 kilometers west-southwest of Narsingdi, with a depth of 10 kilometers at the epicenter.
The tremor caused panic among residents in various areas of Dhaka, with many rushing out of multi-story buildings and into the streets.
