ACC to probe bribery, graft allegations against DNCC boss Azaz
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to launch an investigation into Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Azaz over allegations of corruption, bribery, and various irregularities involving abuse of power.
A senior ACC official confirmed the development to Jago News on Thursday, 27 November, speaking on condition of anonymity.
According to the ACC’s internal communication, the allegations against Azaz include misuse of authority for personal gain, bribery, and administrative misconduct.
On November 27, an official from the Daily and Current Affairs Cell addressed a letter to the Director General (Investigation 1), recommending immediate action to investigate the claims.
The letter instructs the investigation wing to take all necessary steps to probe the allegations thoroughly.
Mohammad Azaz was appointed administrator of the Dhaka North City Corporation in February this year. Following the fall of the Awami League government during the student-led uprising on August 5, 2024, the mayors of 12 city corporations – including Dhaka North – were removed from office on August 19.
