Parked bus set on fire in Dhamrai
A parked bus was set on fire in Dhamrai upazila, Dhaka, in the early hours of Friday.
According to police and fire service officials, the bus was parked on the Suapur-Khararchar road near Kutirchar, and its owner, Abul Kalam, had gone home. Around 12:15 am, locals noticed the fire and managed to control it using water and sand. The fire service later arrived at the scene and found that the blaze had already been extinguished.
Shamsul Haque Mia, an officer of Dhamrai Fire Service, said that by the time they arrived, locals had already put out the fire. He added that a preliminary investigation suggests the fire may have been an act of arson.
Parimal Sutradhar, Sub-Inspector of Dhamrai Police Station, stated that the bus was parked a little away from the new bridge of Suapur Bazar, and the fire occurred around midnight. Locals helped bring the fire under control. Upon inspection, the bus seats and windows were found burned. Further legal action will be taken, but the exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
