2 shot dead at Khulna court premises after appearing in case
After appearing in an arms case, two men were shot dead at the Metropolitan and Sessions Judge court premises in Khulna on Sunday (30 November). The attack occurred between 11:45 am and 12:15 pm.
The deceased, Hasib Howlader, 41, and Rajon, 40, were residents of the Bagmara area in Rupsa. Panic spread across the court premises following the attack, and the assailants fled the scene.
Shafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident to Jago News.
A local tea-staller, speaking anonymously, said that as the two men were exiting the court, several attackers opened fire on them and others struck them with machetes before fleeing. Bystanders rushed to rescue the victims and took them to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
According to police sources, Hasib and Rajon had come to the court to appear in an arms case. After leaving the courtroom, they were attacked by assailants. Upon arrival at the hospital, on-duty doctors declared them dead.
OC Shafiqul Islam added that senior police officials visited the scene and a drive is underway to apprehend those responsible. Further details will be shared after the investigation.
