Govt ready to provide whatever special security Tarique needs
Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, has said that the government is ready to provide whatever special security Tarique Rahman needs.
He made the remarks on Tuesday after a meeting of the Core Committee on law and order at the Secretariat, responding to journalists’ questions.
When asked about Tarique Rahman’s return to the country, the Adviser said, “This matter was not discussed here (in the Core Committee). There is no security threat to anyone in Bangladesh.”
Asked whether the Ministry of Home Affairs is prepared to provide security for Tarique Rahman, he added, “We are prepared for everyone. The Ministry of Home Affairs is ready for all, and especially for those who need special arrangements, we are fully prepared.”
Meanwhile, Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, said on Monday that Tarique Rahman will be returning to the country soon.
