Noakhali cemetery yields hidden cache of guns
Police recovered six newly made firearms from a cemetery of Chandraganj Purba Bazar area under Begumganj upazila in Noakhali on Sunday.
Chandraganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fayzul Azim Noman said that, acting on orders from senior authorities, a team of police carried out a special operation along the Noakhali-Lakshmipur border.
Police later recovered six paper-wrapped packets hidden inside the cemetery. The packets contained five rifles and one locally made LG.
The firearms have been seized, but investigators have not yet identified their owners, the OC said, adding that efforts are underway to trace those involved in the incident.
This incident comes just days after a weapons-making workshop was uncovered on December 1 at Paschim Chandraganj Bazar in Lakshmipur.
