2 die of dengue; 561 hospitalised in 24 hours
Two dengue patients died, while 561 patients were hospitalised across the country in the past 24 hours as of Sunday morning, according to the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Both deaths occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation area. With this, the total number of dengue deaths this year has risen to 396, and the total number of identified cases has reached 97,829.
The new dengue cases include 49 in Barishal Division, 96 in Chattogram Division, 96 in Dhaka Division, 127 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 75 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 6 in Khulna Division, 28 in Mymensingh Division, 31 in Rajshahi Division, 5 in Rangpur Division, and 3 in Sylhet Division.
In the same period, 540 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals.
So far this year, a total of 95,744 dengue patients have recovered and been released. Last year, the country recorded 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths.
The previous year, 2023, saw the highest number of dengue fatalities, 1,705 dead and 321,179 hospitalised.
