DB picks up journalist Anis Alamgir for 'questioning'

Journalist Anis Alamgir has been taken to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB) office for questioning, DB officials said.

According to the DB, he was brought in for interrogation and a decision regarding his case will be taken after the questioning is completed.

Speaking to a reporter of a vernacular daily over mobile phone, Anis Alamgir said he was picked up from a gym in the Dhanmondi area.

“I was brought from a gym in Dhanmondi. DB officials told me their chief would speak to me,” he said.

He added that he was taken from Dhanmondi around 7:30 pm and reached the DB office at about 8:00 pm. “We have been waiting since then. The DB chief has not spoken to me yet,” he said.

Anis Alamgir is a senior journalist who has worked with several media outlets, including The Daily Ajker Kagoj. He has recently been in the spotlight for various comments made on television talk shows
