Gun attack on Hadi: Suspect’s wife, brother-in-law among 3 arrested

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three people, including the wife and brother-in-law of suspected shooter Faisal Karim Masud, alias Daud Khan, in connection with the gun attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency.

The three arrestees are Faisal’s wife Begum Samia, his brother-in-law Shipu, and Begum Maria. With these arrests, the total number of detainees in the case has risen to six.

RAB Legal and Media Wing Director Wing Commander MZM Intekhab Chowdhury confirmed the information on Sunday night (December 14).

He said a large number of cheque books signed by Faisal Karim Masud, as well as electronic devices, were seized from the arrestees.

Earlier on Sunday afternoon, at a press conference held at the DMP Media Centre, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Ops) SN Nazrul Islam said the passports of the suspects involved in the attack on Hadi had been blocked. He also said that three people had been detained on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

Notably, Osman Hadi, who was shot in the capital’s Bijoynagar Box Culvert area on Friday, is currently undergoing treatment in the Critical Care Unit at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka.
