Case filed two days after gun attack on Hadi

A case has been filed at Paltan Model Police Station, two days after the gun attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho and a potential independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency. One person has been named as the accused in the FIR.

Paltan Model Police Station’s Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rokibul Hasan confirmed the filing of the case on Monday but declined to provide further details.

Earlier on Sunday (14 December), the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Faisal Karim Masud’s wife Begum Samia, his brother-in-law Shipu, and Begum Maria, bringing the total number of arrests in connection with the case to six.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Ops) SN Nazrul Islam, at a press conference held at the DMP Media Centre on Sunday afternoon, stated that the passports of the suspects involved in the attack had been blocked. He also said three people had been detained on suspicion of involvement in the incident.

Notably, Osman Hadi, who was shot on Friday in the Bijoynagar Box Culvert area of Dhaka, is currently receiving treatment in the Critical Care Unit at Evercare Hospital.
