EC instructs ROs to recruit polling officers

The Election Commission (EC) has directed returning officers (ROs) to appoint polling officers to ensure fair and impartial conduct of the upcoming 13th parliamentary elections.

The instruction was issued on Monday, December 15, through a letter signed by Election Commission Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain, asking all returning officers to take the required steps accordingly.

The 13th parliamentary elections is scheduled to be held on February 12. 

The EC has already instructed officials to finalise the panel of polling officers by December 18 in line with the election rules.

The commission said that if a sufficient number of eligible polling officers are not available in a particular upazila, returning officers may appoint polling officers from neighbouring or nearby upazilas within the same district, as permitted under the policy.

Returning officers have been requested to take necessary measures in line with this decision.
