Crude bombs explode within minutes in Dhaka, woman injured
A woman pedestrian was injured after a crude bomb was thrown from a flyover in the capital’s Mouchak area on Thursday afternoon.
The incident took place around 4:15pm, a senior official of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) traffic department said.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the official said three cocktail explosions occurred within a few minutes in the Shantinagar, Mouchak and Moghbazar areas.
“It is believed that the cocktails were thrown from a moving vehicle on the flyover,” the official said.
He added that the woman was injured when a cocktail exploded after being thrown from above in the Mouchak area. “Members of the traffic department rescued her and took her to a nearby hospital,” he said.
Meanwhile, a journalist working in the Karwanbazar area reported that another cocktail exploded near the Karwanbazar wholesale fish market. Eyewitnesses there also believe the device was thrown from the flyover.
