New Age editor Nurul Kabir assaulted

New Age editor Nurul Kabir was assaulted allegedly by a group of unruly people outside the Prothom Alo office in Dhaka in the early hours of Friday, December 19.

The incident took place when he went to the Prothom Alo office to assist journalists trapped inside the building which was set on fire by the group.

A video footage circulating on social media shows a group of people moving aggressively toward Nurul Kabir, while members of the law enforcement agencies are seen escorting him away from the scene to ensure his safety.

Earlier, a section of protesters vandalised the buildings housing Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, with parts of premises torched.
