Visa operations halted at Ctg India mission

The visa services at the Indian Assistant High Commission in Chattogram have been suspended over security concerns.

Visa operations will remain suspended at the mission from Sunday, December 21, until further notice, the Indian Visa Application Centre, Dhaka said in a notice on Saturday, December 20.

The decision was taken following recent security-related incidents in areas surrounding the mission in Chattogram. The situation would be reviewed before the announcement of any decision on resuming visa services, the notice said.

Earlier, a group of protesters gathered near the Indian Assistant High Commission after the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson, Sharif Osman bin Hadi, on Thursday, December 18.

Law enforcement agencies acted to restore order and tightened the mission’s security with additional police and military personnel.
